Does this look wrong to anyone else???
I am beginning to suspect that the switch assembly was assembled into the headlight shell 180° from correct. None of this is inspiring confidence in me that the bike will run soon… Surely, I can find enough single-malt whiskey in the house to tempt someone who knows what he’s doing to help me wrap up this wiring… It really shouldn’t be this complicated after all…
Furthermore, there appears to be contacts in the mechanism that don’t make/break as I would have expected. One issue at a time I guess. I have had five separate scheduled times to receive help with finishing this up, from two different parties; both professionals working for their usual shop-rate. No luck yet on anybody actually showing up as planned… My frustration is compounded by being what seems so close and yet still so lost on how to finish. I guess I need to gently coax the switch assembly out of the headlight shell to properly assess the situation. The risk is that I have been repeatedly warned about the fragile, brittle nature of the tabs on the shell that secure the switch. Breaking one of those tabs at this point would at the very least be expensive… Let’s not even discuss what a new generator, regulator or magneto would run, either… Maybe I shouldn’t finish it at all, other than to put the tank back on, make it pretty, move it into the living room as art and dust it occasionally.
Nah, I still wanna ride the damn thing. Soon, I hope.
